    When Hello Means Goodbye – Surviving a Stillbirth

    As I looked through my drafts of post ideas, I saw my “Baby Bumpdate” post sitting in the queue… as I stared at the title I realized something... when I was pregnant and my baby was alive and healthy, I had no problem happily posting "bump pics" and sweet little taglines on how much we loved him, how excited we were to meet him, how we couldn't wait for him to join our crazy family. He was real. He was my son. We dreamed of his future, how he was going to be my little buddy, how he was going to love cars and hockey just like his dad, and…

    Work/Life Balance as a Work at Home Mom

    Working from home means you kind of never stop working. Working from home while being a full time stay at home mom means you REALLY never stop working. You just attempt to fit in all the different tasks throughout each day while trying to keep another human being alive. {insert image of a frazzled half dressed woman, balancing kids with boogers and food, computers with 100's of unread emails, phones beeping and ringing off the hook, a disastrously messy house that looks like a war zone crossed with a ransacked toy store, etc...}

    Dear Mystery Man

    I struggled with whether or not to post this story or not, but decided to go ahead. This is a little more “personal” in my opinion than I normally like to go online, but I just had to share how important this moment was for me. As most of you know, my husband is a LEO, which means crappy work hours…. kidding, but no seriously. A lot of times the only way we get to see him is if we meet him at work for a meal, or a quick “oh heeeeyyyy” while running my errands and he’s in between calls, or if he meets us at the park in…

    What Defines You?

    This post started out as sort of a depressing thought I was having at the end of my husbands long work weekend. For those of who who don’t know my hubby is a LEO. And for those of you who may live under rocks, they, like doctors, firefighters, nurses, etc. work ridiculously stupid long hours.

    Pregnancy Announcement

    One of the best things about having an oversized family is that no matter if its pizza on a Tuesday night, a bonfire on Friday, or Thanksgiving with the crew, any time spent together is always bound to be slightly chaotic but always a good time. The other awesome thing, is when you have any big announcement to make you instantly have a party! We decided to break the news of nugget #2 to my family on Thanksgiving. We were taking family pictures, as we attempt to do every year, and we thought it would be fun to tell everyone during pictures! I had quickly made a sign and the…

    Fishing for Chickens

    Yesterday I had the luxury of getting my hair done… in an actual salon… and not leaning over the sink of your hairdresser friend (no offense ladies, you know we love you to the moon and back, but there is something special and luxurious about actually getting to GO to a salon… Even the word salon sounds so much more fancier and forbidden after you have a kid. Kidding, kidding, it’s not THAT bad. Some priorities just shift post-kiddo.

    A broken heart and a lesson learned

    Yesterday was a "typical" rainy Sunday morning. The groggy goggles were on, the hubby was long gone at work and I was running (slowly yet frantically) around trying to get ready for church and avoid wearing the exact same outfit I had on yesterday. (Dear fashionable IG moms, thanks for the pressure.) Reheated pancakes for breakfast, the dog needing to be let out and fed, I stuck her in her exerciser while I rushed about taking care of last minute things, showering and attempting the long loose curl look on my unloved-for-months hair (overkill)... seemingly out of nowhere all hell broke loose. Oh cue the drama, the crocodile tears, the…

    What’s In My Medicine Cabinet – Sick Season Tricks!

    It wasn't even flu season and I already had to pull my tricks out! Poor G picked up some cold/flu bug (probably from CONSTANTLY chewing on her hands - the girl is trying to push through 3-4 teeth at once) and the hubby and I fought desperately to not get sick ourselves... I will say, we do not frequent doctors offices and stay pretty healthy in general (...knocking on my wooden desk...) So in the spirit of going back to school, the weather getting cooler, and people spreading more germs, I figured I would share my Sick Season Tricks!

    A letter to my daughter on her first birthday

    I can’t believe its already been a year, I mean, we just brought her home! Now she is ONE, how could one number feel so huge?! I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what to get my daughter on her first birthday. She is beautifully uncomplicated; so simple (her favorite toys are rocks, mulch, spatulas, TV remotes…) and totally happy. New cute clothes would only be for me, she’d rather be naked! So… I stayed up late writing her a heartfelt, teary-eyed mommy to daughter letter (the first of a lifetime of birthday letters).

    Productivity Boost!

    Whether we are working professionals in the corporate world, stay at home parents, busy students, bloggers, or perhaps even retired, each of us have a list of responsibilities and tasks that need to be taken care of on a daily basis. Some people are naturally gifted in the area of self motivation and productivity, others need consistent fresh ideas and coaxing to get things done. Although I would like to argue this point some days – there are the same amount of hours in a day, for everyone. As a mother working from home, I am ALWAYS looking for fresh ways to boost my productivity.
