Ever wish parenting came with a user manual? Yep, me too. Sometimes I wish it was as black and white as text in a book. But then again, I do love how every day brings something new and exciting.
Your child’s nutrition, along with sleep, seems to be one of the most challenging aspects for us new parents. Can I just tell you how much time i’ve spent trying to figure out both?! As far as feeding goes, I think that the #fedisbest movement is always key to remember – no matter what your preference is starting out, the MOST important thing is that your child gets the proper nutrients to THRIVE. I remember having so many questions, wanting to make sure I was doing what was best for my baby.
When I had my first daughter, she came out pickier than Paris Hilton eating at a chain restaurant (sorry Paris). We fought HARD to become successful at breastfeeding, then we fought HARD to make it to 10 months. And, at 4yrs old, eating is still a sore subject for us. I have spent HOURS pouring over childhood nutrition books, blogs, articles, and talking with our pediatrician making sure she was getting the proper nutrition.
I now have two girls, and while the youngest is far from being picky, I still have my questions as far as nutrition goes. I want to make sure that both of my girls are getting everything they need to thrive.
Well, I was THRILLED to find out that one of our favorite brands, Happy Family Organics, recently launched a new FREE service, where you have access to a live chat via their homepage with a licensed professional. You can ask these Mama Mentors anything feeding related, from nursing questions to baby and toddler feeding questions, and they give you advice within minutes!
This FREE support service not be easier to use! I went ahead and took advantage of it myself to see how it all worked and couldn’t get over how simple it is. Everly (our 15 month old) is starting to wean herself from breastfeeding. My goal was to nurse until at least 12 months, but to just see how it all went and wean when things felt right. Since she only nurses a couple of times a day now, I started offering her cows milk (because that’s just what we’ve been told is the next step) and she keeps refusing it. We drink both cows milk (sparingly) and almond milk in our house, so I wanted to know, what would be best for Everly. I jumped on the Happy Family site from my phone and within seconds I got a response from Jaime. We chatted back and forth and she couldn’t have been more helpful!
The Happy Mama Mentors are available 8 A.M.- 8 P.M. (EST) Monday-Friday and 8 A.M.- 4 P.M. Saturday-Sunday. The mentors are all registered dietitians, lactation consultants, and they are certified in infant and maternal nutrition. Best of all, they’re all moms too!
Overall I was extremely happy with the level of service and I will most definitely be going back with any other diet related questions for my kids. It’s nice to have another thing added to the “mama-hood toolbox”!
