I love crafting, but unfortunately haven’t gotten to do much of it over the past few years. So, jumping back into the creative space with this Rope Rainbow DIY made my heart so happy!
I hope you have as much fun as I did with this easy DIY craft that is perfect for Valentine’s Day – and beyond!
Here is the step by step guide on how I created these simple Rope Rainbows. For a more in depth tutorial, head over to Instagram and view my Story Highlight that I have saved there!
I got all of my materials from Michaels, but you can get these supplies from any craft store.
What you will need:
- Rope – I used 0.5″
- Yarn – I liked getting yarn with different textures
- Fabric Scissors – or any other super sharp scissors to cut the rope
- Hot Glue Gun
- Pom Poms
- Popsicle Sticks
- Large Wood Beads
Lay out your rope in the approximate size you want.
Notes: don’t worry if the ends are not even, you can trim them up at the end.
Next, start wrapping your yarn.
Repeat on each piece of rope.
I wrapped a little too far on the outer two, I just unraveled until they were all even again. Now, assemble together using popsicle sticks and hot glue. Note: I did sew the first one together. It’s time consuming, but it is an option for a more finished look. Otherwise, the popsicle sticks glued to the back worked well and it was super fast.
To hang, glue a simple yarn loop in the back or tie yarn to the top row.
I loved the length of rope left out of the ends, I just trimmed them to be even, and gently unraveled the ends for more natural texture. I love how it turned out! Try experimenting with different yarns, textures and embellishments.
I hope you have as much fun making these as I did!
