10 Positive Affirmations to Tell Your Kids
The other night, I was scrolling through old pictures (I do that sometimes) and I came across a video of my oldest daughter and I from a couple of years ago. She is about two years old in it – and while to her we are simply playing a “repeat after me” game, to me, it honestly brought tears to my eyes. (scroll down for video) Just as hard as it is for us to parent these days, it’s hard for kids to grow up. Thanks to the advances of technology and social media, kids are being forced to grow up faster, they are being bombarded with things that test…

Travel Approved: The Perfect Day Trip Diaper Bag
This post is sponsored by JJ Cole but the content and opinions expressed here are my own. We’ve been lucky enough to go to Disney twice so far this year. The first time was completely on a whim, so absolutely no preplanning, crazy I know. The second time I had a bit more time to plan ahead and bring everything I wish I had the first go round. We are an active family and I travel with the kids pretty frequently, but I have to say a trip to Disney is a great gauge for the durability and versatility of any kid product! One of the things I wish I…

5 Ways We Use Our DockATot Grand
This post is sponsored by DockATot but the content and opinions expressed here are my own. If you are a new parent or soon to be parent, chances are you have heard of the DockATot. If you haven’t then don’t worry, I’ll enlighten you! In a nutshell, the DockATot is a multi-functional lounging, playing, chilling, resting and snuggling dock you can take anywhere. They are offered in two sizes, the Deluxe for ages 0-8 months and the Grand for ages 9-36 months. Before Everly was born, I had heard great things about the brand and how well babies were sleeping in it. So I went ahead and got the Deluxe size…

Travel Together: Washington, D.C.
If you get jet-lag from long flights, do you get toddler-lag from traveling ANY DISTANCE with a toddler?! I vote yes. We just got home from our trip to D.C. and the state of my house pretty much matches to the state of my brain. Since I live and travel with miss Tiger Lily herself I had to totally psych myself up for each trek. I mean, does time actually go by slower on a plane with a toddler?

Little Wildflower Turns TWO!
We celebrated G turning two this past weekend and had so much fun! I am still in complete disbelief that I have a two year old. Her day was filled with lots of balloons, kisses, and cake 🙂 We loved being able to make her day extra special and spend time with so many of our amazing family and friends.

When Hello Means Goodbye – Surviving a Stillbirth
As I looked through my drafts of post ideas, I saw my “Baby Bumpdate” post sitting in the queue… as I stared at the title I realized something... when I was pregnant and my baby was alive and healthy, I had no problem happily posting "bump pics" and sweet little taglines on how much we loved him, how excited we were to meet him, how we couldn't wait for him to join our crazy family. He was real. He was my son. We dreamed of his future, how he was going to be my little buddy, how he was going to love cars and hockey just like his dad, and…

Have Child – Be Humbled
It was pride that changed angels into devils; it is humility that makes men as angels. -Saint Augustine So I am convinced I have one of the loudest little people in all existence. For being so tiny she sure has a set of lungs… and no shortage of attitude. A couple of weekends ago we (rather unexpectedly) bought a car – hello new mom car! If you have ever purchased a car, particularly from a dealership, you know it is NOT a short venture. G was great! By “great” I mean in the typical active kid sense – like not sitting in your lap nicely flipping through a book, eating…

DIY: How to Make a Fluffy Tutu
I grew up in a house full of boys which meant lots of sports, cars, and dirt. I was your biggest tomboy and didn’t wear a dress by my own choosing until I was like 15 (not kidding). I was a tough chick, I know my cars, i’m good at sports, and I have a passion for the outdoors… but I wince every time I look back at family albums. Backwards hats, grubby boy clothes… oh dear lord.. LOL.
